Action without Prayer

Updated: Mar 22

Awareness without action is just information. Action is what is meaningful. Like "faith without works is dead faith," awareness without action is just information -- it may make the informed feel good about themselves, but it alone achieves nothing.

But there is another step. Action without prayer is ambition, not obedience; it will not lead to the fullness of Christ that the Scripture says is God's will for us -- only God's will can do that.

So the remedy? Is to pray. It is to ask before we act. Asking is a type of prayer. It is to meditate and remember the Lord our God -- meditation is a type of prayer. It is to give thanks in all circumstances that we are not conditional in our pursuit of an unconditionally loving Savior. Praise is a type of prayer. Ask others to pray for you; intercession is a type of prayer. And when you do not know how to pray: pray in tongues. Or pray your messy prayers. That's what confession as prayer is.

Without asking.

And intercession...

Our awareness to action will equal just ambition. Selfish ambition.

Remember these words in the book of Philippians, chapter 2: "Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."

There is no way to lead a selfless life without prayer.

Remember the words in the book of 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If My people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Prayer is the way breakthrough, forgiveness and healing.

Awareness > Prayer > Action.

Prayer is the mountain mover. Prayer is the heart changer. Prayer is medicine for our narrow minds. Prayer is the earth shaker. Prayer is the peace amidst the storm. Prayer is the answer amidst the confusion. Prayer is the power to be patient. Prayer is the joy amidst the pain. Prayer is food for our soul and spirit. It is a sword amidst the battle. It is an anchor in the storm.

We must pray. If we want the fullness of Christ.

We must pray. If we want the assurance that our steps are aligned to Jesus, as we claim to want and follow.

We must pray.
